About Me

My journey into the world of talking therapies started when I became a mental health nurse. I trained in 2009 and was fortunate to work in various services from Inpatient intensive care to the Crisis Home treatment team in the community. As a nurse I supported many people suffering with severe and enduring mental illness and also had roles where I could lead and mentor staff, student or newly qualified nurses reach their potential through management and leadership roles. I am grateful for my past career and for what I have learnt, as this was where I realised the power of These key fundamental ingredients; Knowledge, having positive relationships with people you serve based on trust, Having optimism and hope that they can improve, and the ability to motivate others to help themselves.

I have always been interested in talking therapies ever since I had a placement as a student nurse in an IAPT service in Manchester. Fast forward over 14 years and I have been lucky enough to be in the role I dreamed of.

Prior to starting my own private practice I worked as a CBT and EMDR therapist for the NHS at Mindsmatter in East Lancashire. I am proud of the service I worked for and the support I give people now. I love the variety of people I am able to help. I feel very fortunate to be in a position where I can aid people make positive and lasting change in their lives.

Unfortunately due to waiting lists with the NHS people are waiting too long for the help they need and this is not only frustrating and upsetting for clients but also many therapists in IAPT services like myself. Another issue often noted by therapists in Primary care mental health services is the fairly inflexible amount of sessions allowed to be offered to the public and the restrictions for therapists to offer different talking therapies to CBT and EMDR that may also be helpful to people.

I am glad to be able to offer you the opportunity to access a range of evidence based talking therapies without delay. Simply contact me via submitting a message or emailing me and I will contact you to discuss how I can help you. If I feel I cannot meet your needs I will offer ideas and services that can meet your needs better. I will not take you on as my client If I don't feel I have the expertise to help you. As the old saying goes- 'Honesty is the best policy' and I only want the best for you and your future.
