Hello, I'm Kay.

Person-centred therapy offers a way for you to talk about and explore the things that are distressing to you or causing you pain. It is offered in a non-judgemental and safe way. CBT is a more directive approach, allowing us to look at thoughts and behaviours and to make change. I also work in a solution focussed way which is very goal oriented.

I would like to create a bespoke therapy package of support for you. This means that I would like to get to know a bit about you, so that we can tailor make a package of therapy that will meet your needs now and into your future. We can be eclectic in style and include creative ideas that will help you to make changes and find a better life for yourself.

Although I work with children, young people and adults. I also have specialisms and experience in working with neurodiversity and with the LGBTQ+ community

About me

 

I worked as a teaching assistant in a school for children with disability for a year and then moved into Local Government. I’ve had various jobs in Housing, disabled facilities and social care both children’s (as an after care worker) and adults (supporting people to continue to live at home by assessing and arranging care packages and equipment/adaptations.


During training had a placement within a Domestic Violence charity in Bolton and worked on a helpline for Ncompass.

Since qualifying as a counsellor, I worked for a year exclusively with young people experiencing neurodivergence.  I work part time for a local charity in Chorley as a children and young person’s counsellor working with children in schools, their homes and community centres providing short term/ focussed support. 


I also work part time in my private practice as I wanted to be able to offer people longer term counselling where appropriate. I work in an integrative way incorporating person centred therapy, CBT and creative therapy.
