Counselling for children and young people
Hi I am Carol.
I am a qualified person centred therapist (BACP registered Level 4 Diploma Therapeutic Counselling)
As a therapist I believe we all have unique abilities and the potential to solve our own issues, we just need support to remember that sometimes when life throws hard times our way, we can easily forget our own power, feeling overwhelmed, stuck, at the mercy of events.
Counselling is a process to help you resolve difficult feelings and gain a clearer understanding of your problems. I will support your journey within a very safe environment through a genuine and honest relationship, which will promote a self Âfulfilling and self healing process.
Sessions for children and young people may differ from counselling for adults, and will depend on your child’s age, specific needs and their development. Therapeutic Play sessions are facilitated through various ways of play and by using different techniques this supports your child to make sense of their feelings and the world around them. This may include creative play, role play, including activities of your child's choice. Talking therapy for teenagers is supported with resources journaling and creativity.
In all instances the sessions will be adapted and tailored to meet the young persons needs needs.I can also offer family support sessions combined with therapy, should you feel you would like a holistic approach, for parents that want to be actively a part of the process. This approach would support younger children that might present with ASD. I negotiate and plan accordingly with parent and child, to find the best resolution. The child consents and works with parent. This process is supported through conversations, regular check ins and working more pro actively, directed by the child. To be discussed and arranged at point of assessment.
I am a member of the British Association for counselling and psychotherapy (BACP) and work within the ethical framework and work professionally in accordance with the code of ethics. I am based in Chorley. I can offer face to face or remote sessions. I also offer home visits or can work with children or young people at their schools where possible/appropriate and agreed. Price per 50 min session: £60
